This video, entitled Muslim Voters in Astoria, Queens Differ on the ‘Value’ of Voting is pretty interesting. We believe voting is an important part of being a US citizen, whether native-born or naturalized. It is great to hear from Astoria Muslims who participate in the process with their fellow Americans.

But just like a lot of voters, there are Muslims that feel just as disenfranchised and cynical about the process. It’s also helpful to hear their side of the story, too, which includes the concern that local politicians don’t reach out to their community.

It has been said that last week’s election results ended up the way they did because young people—especially progressives—didn’t get out and vote. Would you agree? And how important is voting to you? We’d love to hear your thoughts—leave us a comment or a tweet!
