Thanks to the eagle eye of Astorian @ATB24, I learned that the opening of the most recent episode (Season 2, Episode 4) of The Blacklist was filmed in Astoria! The scene takes place at Sun City Bank, which is really First Central Savings Bank on 30th Ave and 35th Street. You can tell by the distinctive posting of hours on the front window. Here it is in The Blacklist (click on images to enlarge):

And here’s the real bank:

You can also see the awning of Grand Pharmacy and a tiny bit of Chicken Shack through the window when the woman is in the bank.

And when she’s approaching the bank, you can see the Amorelli Realty (36-01 30th Avenue) sign in the background.

Back in January, Locale showed up in a Blacklist episode, as did the Hell Gate Bridge. They also filmed the series in September on 30th Ave. but we’re not sure if that was for this recent episode or for something later. In any case, we love seeing Astoria as a location on TV and in the movies!

Pretty sure they filmed at Locale on 34th Ave as well, but they were saying it was midtown Manhattan. It obviously wasn’t midtown.

Yup, they’ve definitely filmed in Astoria park once or twice–I live right across the street. It’s pretty cool except filming always messes with parking in the neighborhood : (

Actually, Blacklist already used Astoria since season 1 often.

Season 1 Episode 3 “Wujing” also used the same location (FCSB bank) as a radio station and Wujing’s headquarter (underground). In the same episode they used Leli’s interior across the street as the FBI surveillance cafe.

OMG that is AWESOME! I’m going to have to go back and look at it. I love this show, so any excuse to watch it – past or present episodes – is fine by me! Also – I’m trying to figure out why Elizabeth looks so different this season compared to last. I just can’t put my finger on it…
