We’ve learned that Bowery Bay has a new menu! They’ve revamped both their food and drink menu. First the drinks—you’ll find a lot of whiskey and its cousins, including Rye, Scotch, Bourbon, Japanese, and more. There’s also beer on draft and in bottles. And they have some cocktails:

Gala Ginger Beer Margarita—Sauza Hornitos, agave & homemade sour mix topped with ginger beer

The Barstro Martini—cucumber lime vodka, St. Germaine & rhubarb bitters

North Beach Pimms Cup—a simplified refreshing take on the traditional Pimms Cup

The Local G&T—a classic gin & tonic made all in Astoria, Queens Courage Gin & Habers Tonic

Sal’s Dad—a Bulleit rye old fashioned topped with artisanal vanilla cream soda

Frankly, they all sound pretty tasty. Also, their happy hour is Monday to Friday, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. $4 Drafts, $4 Select Bottles, $4 Well Drinks.

Now the food. The menu is divided up into small and large plates as before, as well as sandwiches and extras. It definitely leans toward the meaty side of things. Here is a sampling from the food menu:

Small Plates

Mac and Cheese—maine lobster, fontina, gruyere, mozzarella, white truffle oil
Jabalin Tamales—wild boar, chipilin, chimichuri
Buffalo Sweet Breads and Snails—celeriac root, carrots, gorgonzola

Large Plates

Etoufee—springer chicken, gulf coast shrimp, jasmine rice, baby okra
Duck Nachos—smoked duck leg, watermelon radish, blue corn chips, gouda cheese, lime crème fraiche, salsa verde
Chicken Under Brick—hearts of romaine, soft boiled egg, lemon crème, stilton bleu cheese, anchovy croutons

Sandwiches

Lobster Roll—chilled maine lobster, shishimi pepper, kew pee mayo, kirby cucumbers, brioche bun
Sloppy Pig—shoulder, rump, leg, crispy pig skin, house pickles, vermont white cheddar cheese, brioche bun

Extras

Truffled Corn on the Cobb—black pepper, black summer truffle butter
Sunchoke Chips—garlic ponzu
Grilled Okra

As you can see, the Extras tend more toward the vegetarian side. Other vegetarian options include:

Truffle Popcorn—parmesan cheese, black summer truffle butter
Baby Arugula Salad—beets, pine nuts, goat cheese, agave mustard dressing
Ricotta Toast—caramelized peaches, kumquat chutney, french baguette
Succotash Chili—chick peas, young corn, red bell peppers, crimini mushrooms, roma tomatoes, walnuts, cilantro

There’s also a moules frites dish in three seasonings (Classic, Carbonara, and Absinthe) as well as poutine with a choice of shrimp, pork cheek, and foie gras.

Lots of interesting sounding things here, and there are more choices on the full menu, so check it out. We’re intrigued and will have to stop by and give some things a try!

Had the lobster mac, corn on the cob and a nice cold Dreamweaver off the tap. Delightful, love this spot.
