Valentine’s Day in Astoria and LIC

With all the snow this year, Valentine’s Day kind of just crept up on us.  Sure it’s a little cheesy, but we heart this holiday because it’s dedicated to the ones you love.  Whether that means close friends, family members or your special sweetie, we hope you enjoy V-Day the Astorian way.

Malu

In honor of V-day, Malu is hosting a fun pop-up shop this Thursday from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., featuring loverly items such as wine, chocolate, jewelry, festive gift baskets and other goodies.  12-09 Jackson Ave, LIC. 718.729.6258

Alobar

We heart the rich V-day menu planned at Alobar, with items such as loaded potato gnocchi, butter poached main lobster ravioli, pan seared skate wing, and tons of decadent dessert.  It’s nice to see that you can order these menu items a la carte, instead of a prix-fixe, including the yummy bacon popcorn you see here.  Reservations are highly recommended.  46-42 Vernon Blvd, LIC. 718.752.6000  

Cavo

For something a little fancy, Cavo is pulling out all the stops with their 3-course dinner prix-fixe and a glass of champagne.  The dessert especially caught our eye “chocolate chip gelato swirled with chocolate and topped with cocoa powder and hazelnuts.” Yes please!  42-18 31st Avenue, Astoria.  718.721.1001

Queens County Market

For a little retail therapy, check out the Queens County Market’s Special Valentine’s Day market this coming Sunday from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at SingleCut Beersmiths.  We’ve been a few times, and it’s always a lot of fun and chock full of delicious vendors!  19-33 37th Street, Astoria.  718.606.0788

Rest-au-Rant

Bear

Indulging in an intimate evening at one of our favorite haunts, we highly recommend the special V-day dinner at Bear.  We heart their 3-course V-day menu with comforting items such as cauliflower soup, whole roasted duck with apples, Stroganoff forest mushrooms, braised leg of lamb and other things.  For $60/person you’ll get three hearty courses as well as some celebratory champagne.  See the full Valentine’s Day menu here.  12-14 31st Avenue, LIC. 917.396.4939

Il Bambino

Riverview Restaurant

For something a little fancy shmancy, Riverview restaurant in LIC is featuring a special Valentine’s Day menu with decadent items such as lobster bisque, pan seared scallops, filet mignon carpaccio, Long Island Duck, their homemade cheesecake and a lot more.  The dinner will set you back $95/person but the views and atmosphere speaks for itself.  2-01 50th Avenue, LIC. 718.392.5000

The Queens Kickshaw
