We noticed recently that Ovelia, one of our favorite restaurants in the nabe is closed for renovation. Totally intrigued by this new development, we did a little digging and got the following scoop from Chris, Ovelia’s co-owner. Get ready for the new and improved, Ovelia! I hope to recapture the freshness and the feel of what I believe a modern Greek restaurant is today, seven years later. I’ve found some new wonderful materials that work side by side with repurposed material like our old teak tables which have been incorporated in the new design. We think that Ovelia has evolved along with its client base in the past seven years and believe that our menu and decor have to compliment this. The really fun thing about the renovation has been people’s reactions about specific things- didn’t realize how controversial those legs were in the back there. We’ve had offers for them but I’m not sure I’m ready to part with them yet. Legs or no legs the random splatter of kitch will be present- Couldn’t have it any other way.
