We Heart Astoria Food Talk – Holiday Mode Edition

Officially in holiday mode now, it’s all about delicious, decadent eats.  Here are a few of our faves we’ve got our eye on:

Have you seen that a new eatery has opened up on 30th Avenue? It’s called Marketa and it’s a collaboration between the folks at Butcher Bar and Central.  We’ll have more deets on it soon, but holler if you know any more about it.  It’s located right across the street from Flo Cafe.

Ovelia, one of our favorite modern Greek haunts has turned 7 this month.  They’re celebrating in a big way and hosting a complimentary open bar and meze this Friday from 9-10 p.m. Enjoy!  34-01 30th Avenue, Astoria.  718.721.7217

The LIC Flea returns this weekend, just in time to ring in the holidays.  Their special holiday market will be held indoors (corner of 5th st. and 46th Ave) and is rumored to host up to 60 vendors, including all your favorite local foodie treats.  Here’s a highlight of how it went down this summer – a lot of these guys will be represented this weekend as well, both Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

This past weekend, I had a nice meal at MP Taverna and thought it’s a great venue for something celebratory such as the holidays. A few standouts that are musts in my book are the grilled octopus, Grandma’s meatballs and the rustic eggplant dip. 31-29 Ditmars Blvd, Astoria. 718. 777.2187
