Bike Friendly Astoria Workshop Tonight Pedestrian Town Hall Meeting Wednesday in Astoria Just today we learned that this year’s Tour de Queens has opened registration for the July 7 ride! It’s a terrific bike ride, taking you through select neighborhoods in the most excellent borough of Queens. And extra awesomeness is that they will start and end the right right here in Astoria, in Astoria Park (which is gorgeous in the summer). Beware, though – they’ve put a cap on participants, so register early if you plan to ride. As far as the scheduling this year, it goes like this: Timeline: 7am: Rider check-in and registration opens 8:30am: Check-in and registration closes 9am: Tour departs 12:30pm: The Tour returns to Astoria Park, in the same location as the start. Check-in/start time is subject to change. The ride is definitely family-friendly and goes on for about 19 miles. They change the route each year so that folks can get to know – at least a little bit – different neighborhoods in Queens. This year they’ll go though Astoria, Long Island City, Ridgewood, Maspeth, Rego Park, Middle Village, Forest Hills, Corona, and East Elmhurst. If you’re interested, you can register here.
