Today we have two items – a copy of the book Food Lovers’ Guide to Queens, written by yours truly, and ice cream for four (a $20 gift certificate) from the amazing Malu in LIC. This book was a labor of love for me, plus I had a blast writing it. I ate a lot of food, traveled all over Queens, and really got to know the borough. The book includes reviews of restaurants, specialty shops, food markets, and there are even recipes from your neighbors (including one for a cherry cake by our very own Judith!). And Malu makes some of the most delicious ice cream in Queens. Pictured above are their seasonal flavors – gingerbread, peppermint, and eggnog. Yum. Of course, there are other flavors (grab the chocolate orange hazelnut if it’s in stock). How to enter: Leave us a comment telling us about your favorite restaurant in Queens. You can enter between now and Sunday, 12/16. We will draw a winner on Monday, 12/17. Good luck! Queens Comfort is the best. Donnie figures out the best recipes, seasonal options and fresh additions to weekend brunch!!! brian miller December 16th, 2012 My favorite restaurant is Queens Comfort, they have the most creative/evolving menu! Danielle December 16th, 2012 Agnanti, plain and simple. Taverna Kyclades is up there too, but Agnanti wins out of sheer convenience for me. So many other worthy locations, though—I’m learning to branch out & discover more! Wan Hang Lee December 15th, 2012 Astoria has so many great options… I think Zenon Taverna never fails me =) Lindsey December 14th, 2012 I’d have to say that Seva never disappoints. Yael Maxwell December 14th, 2012 I just moved to Queens, but so far I love Queens Kickshaw, Flo, and MexiBBQ Laura F. December 14th, 2012 i haven’t had the chance to try malu yet, but have really wanted to! my fave resto in qns!? too hard to choose one! but kickshaw and il bambino are both on the very top of that list. mmmMMMMmm!!! cheese! Jason December 14th, 2012 Bareburger all the way! Beth December 14th, 2012 My favorite Queens restaurant is Ornella in Astoria. I went there for my birthday and we were one of the only couples in the restaurant, the owner gave us very special attention, and the food was divine. Close second for L’Incontro, a less intimate but equally delicious and special experience. HowardW December 14th, 2012 My fave is in Woodside, Thailand Center Point, just a block away from Sriprapai (which is awesome too!). Angel December 13th, 2012 Loved Bai Sushi for years. We eat there as often as possible. Love Bahari, too. Erin December 13th, 2012 My fave is sanford’s…great for late night and i daydream about that bread basket!! Amy Ellison December 13th, 2012 My family loves Fatty’s Cafe! The food is great and the owners are some of the nicest people we’ve ever met! Ruby Chua December 13th, 2012 It’s hard to choose one, but I’m picking Zenon Taverna because their pastitsio is the best I’ve ever had. Elizabeth OBrien December 13th, 2012 Favorite restuarant is Chips Mexican in Sunnyside!! Katherine December 13th, 2012 Il Bambino! I have never had, or been with someone who has had, a meal and drink that they didn’t love. Emily R. December 13th, 2012 Salt and Fat. Hands down. So fun and great food! sergio December 13th, 2012 If you are looking for something sweet, you have to go to Malu. This little shop in LIC has the best ice cream in NY,not just Queens. Their mini cupcakes are inspired by their ice cream flavors which are as unique and kid friendly as you can imagine. They also do fun things with chocolates like their chocolate covered fritos or their pretzels rods which are to die for… But don’t take my word for it, just go and have your own experience. Daniel Rios December 13th, 2012 It would have to be a Locale or Cafe Triskell. Locale has been flawless the last 5 times we’ve been there and the last meal there was quite possible, one of my top 5 meals ever. Order the specials, so worth it! Justin December 13th, 2012 I have to say Matsu Sushi is fabulous! Susan December 13th, 2012 Oh, how I love Il Bambino, especially in the summer with its awesome back garden. Thea December 13th, 2012 Queens Kickshaw is my current fav, but there are so many! The owner was so nice, and the food was delicious! Chris December 13th, 2012 You can’t go wrong with Koliba. J-La December 13th, 2012 It is really difficult to pick a favorite. Because I have two young kids we tend to pick places with variety and simpler items. We also tend to stay in Astoria and not branch too far afield. I think if I had to pick just one I would need to pick two. The Queens Kickshaw and Sac’s Place. Gooey cheesy goodness and Mama’s meatballs. Owning this book will help us expand our horizons. Lisa December 13th, 2012 I’m a total sucker for anything Queens Comfort can think up! Sam December 13th, 2012 Ugh can’t pick one! Zenon Taverna, Cafe Triskell, Il Bambino… Katie December 13th, 2012 Queens has so many great options that it’s hard to choose! I’d have to say my favorite go to is Leng Thai on Broadway. Anne December 13th, 2012 La Flor on Woodside Avenue! I love that’s it’s equally good for brunch or dinner. Alexandra December 13th, 2012 Hands down, Il Bambino is my favorite restaurant in Queens. My boyfriend and I are obsessed with their panini and crostini to the point where we have tried to hunt down their bread distributor (the bakery makes it exclusively for them! blast!) and tried to replicate their delicious meals at home (to no avail). As an added bonus, they are happy to substitute any of their amazing meats for veggies (or more delicious cheese) to make it vegetarian. Also, their wine and beer selection is pretty killer. YUM. Sandra December 13th, 2012 Mundo is my absolute favorite!! Healthy, inventive and amazingly delicious treats. And the best customer service around. In the summer you can’t beat the people watching on the corner of 34th Ave and 33rd Street.
