I was thrilled to recently learn that Astoria has a new addition to our thriving art scene, Mandragoras Art Space (36-01 36th Avenue, 3rd Fl.). Look out for a new installation opening May 5th featuring the work of Cheryl Pope. (In)voluntary Acts examines the actions, both voluntary and involuntary, that our bodies make when confronted with suppression and restraint. Learn more about the artist and the work’s intention by visiting Mandragoras’ website.

Opening Reception May 5th from 6-8 pm, including a live performance by the artist. The work will be on view through May 26th, 2012.
