Socrates Sculpture Park One of the questions I’ve received the most this past month is “Which movies are they showing at Socrates this summer?” I saw a listing on another site but was unsure if it was accurate. Well, Socrates finally posted the schedule on their site – here it is: July 6 – Clermont Ferrand Short Films (International) July 13 – Who Wants To Kill Jessie (Czech Republic) July 20 – Caramel (Lebanon) July 27 – The Good, The Bad, The Weird (Korea) August 3 – The Straight Story (U.S.A.) August 10 – At The Edge Of Russia (Russia) August 17 – Biutiful (Spain) August 24 – Silent Film Fest Details of the films can be found on the website. All films are on Wednesday evenings on the big lawn at the park, and start at sunset. You can catch pre-screening performances at 7pm. Regional cuisine from local restaurants will also be available for purchase, but of course you can bring a picnic on your own, too! And while all the evenings will be great, particularly intriguing is what’s going to happen on August 24th, during the Silent Film Fest: Backyard Band/with (www.backyardbandwith.com) is a simple recipe: silent films, live music and homemade pies (yes, you can have all three at the same time)! Enjoy a themed evening of unique silent films and imagery set to original, live scores by local musicians. The pie portion of the evening depends on you: it’s a potluck! Share your favorite recipes and discover new taste sensations. Film + music + pie = a truly social media So yeah, all you pie makers and masters – bring your pies!
