One of my absolute favorite things to do in Astoria is attend a Sunday Night Dinner. Cookbook author, and home cook extraordinaire Tamara Reynolds has been quietly cooking up meals for hungry dinner guests as part of her SND nights for several years now.  These small gatherings allow culinarily inclined strangers to dine, often alfresco, on amazing home cooked, seasonal meals right here in Astoria. No longer just on Sundays, these amazing ‘underground dinners’ are relatively low cost and a great way to meet amazing new people all while chowing down on food better than most restaurants serve. Do a little digging around SND’s blog and get yourself on the e-mail list for the next big dinner!

Summer means amazing grilling action at SND

Homegrown is always best.

And! For those with kids or who just want to get out of Astoria for a night, check out Tamara’s amazing seasonal dishes at Queens County Farm’s “Dinner in the Field- Family Style.” You’ll dine in the fields of NYC’s oldest and largest operating farm, and there’s lots of activities for the little ones. The event is July 20th, 6-8pm. I’ll let the menu speak for itself: (Buy tickets here)
