Hello Astoria!  Allow us to introduce ourselves – we’re Meg, Mackenzi and Judith, three fun chicks with different interests but one common passion.  Astoria!  That’s right…WE HEART ASTORIA.  We heart its beauty, its convenience, its wonderful spirit and most importantly the people who make it the most incredible neighborhood we call home.

Through our posts, pictures, events and commentary, we aim to spread this love to you.  Whether you’ve just moved to Astoria or have lived here all your life, we hope you’ll find this blog useful and informative—and that you’ll tell others about it.

We dedicate this blog to you.  Always be open with us, let us know what you’re thinking (both good and bad), and we’ll do the same.  The conversation won’t be dull, and it might get contrarian at times, but we can’t wait to start it.

What to expect from this blog:

Food – Reviews, recipes, interviews and insider tid-bits about Astoria’s lively and ever-evolving food scene.

Shopping – News about sales, shopping events, boutique openings and more, spotlighting Astoria’s unique small and large business community.

Community Events – Fund-raisers, music performances, art shows, sustainable community practices and other events that make Astoria so much fun!

More! – Anything and everything that we heart about Astoria including the wonderful people that make it the best place to live.

Who we are:

Meg – Active throughout the community, working with groups like the Astoria Park Alliance and the Hellgate CSA, Meg is dedicated to improving the lives of regular Astorians.  As a classical musician, she is also in-tune with various arts and music organizations in town. Meg will bring you news and views on her interests, which lie in sustainability, environmental issues, recreation, community gardens and food.

Mackenzi – Making her home, life and work in Astoria where she’s lived since 2003, Mackenzi’s passions lie in interior design.  She is the owner of SITE, an eclectic interior design store and studio that brings inspired home furnishings to the neighborhood and supports local artists in Queens.  Mackenzi will shine a light on Astoria’s local business community, from design boutiques like her own to vintage shops, wine shops, and much more.

Judith – You might already know her as the Foodista, Judith’s passion lies in food and everything about it.  Originally from the Eastern European country of Slovakia, Judith embraces the many delicious (and often ethnic) eats Astoria has to offer.  She’ll bring you her take on new restaurants, interesting food that you’ve never tasted, chef interviews and always her honest opinion.

It’s our absolute pleasure to begin this fun adventure with you.  We can’t wait to spread our love of Astoria —and we hope you join us for the ride.  Come on…say it with us (you know you want to)…WE HEART ASTORIA.
