We heart St. Patty’s Day! And how could we not be in a festive mood on this happy holiday?  With a beautiful, sunny day like today, there are so many fun ways to celebrate.   We wanted to highlight 3 ways in particular by shining the light on 3 local bars we heart.

Sweet Afton – This less-than-a-year old watering hole has quickly become one of our all time favorites.  Their locally sourced food, inventive drinks as well as their top-notch hospitality are just some of the reasons we heart them.  If you decide to give it a try tonight, you won’t be disappointed.  Given this place is an Irish establishment, they’ll have Guinness flowing and plenty of fun Irish grub such as their signature Irish Breakfast Roll (pictured below), served all day.  30-09 34th Street, Astoria.  718.777.2570

The Sparrow
– Dark, mysterious and pretty darn sexy, this local bar, situated across the street from the Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden has style.  From its shabby-chic decor to indie music (and even local indie film fests), the Sparrow isn’t your your average bar.  They’ll ring in St. Patty’s day with a simple, no bull$%#@ special – $9 Guinness and a Jameson shot.  And if you want to enjoy something “NOMable” as Meg would say,  I wouldn’t miss their grass-fed burgers with Gruyere cheese on top! 24-01 29th Street, Astoria.  718.606.2260

The Irish Rover
– Located in a quiet part of town on 28th Avenue near 38th street, The Irish Rover is a true neighborhood pub.  The atmosphere is super casual, drinks are cheap and the clientele is the definition of local.  With a name like that, how could they not respect today’s holiday? Enjoy their hospitality with complimentary grub and a live band at 8 p.m.  Drinks are priced as usual, which means super duper cheap. 37-18 28th Avenue, Astoria.  718.278.9372

Enjoy this holiday Astoria and tell us about the bars you heart.

The Quays on 30th Ave. is arguably the best Irish bar in NYC. Constant buybacks, a mixed and interesting clientele, and the occasional Shane MacGowan sighting.

Though it’s not Irish per se, Cronin & Phelan makes an amazing BLT. Simply one of the best I’ve had!

Enjoy tonight, everyone!
