We’ve gotten several messages from readers concerned with what the future looks like, based on the current exterior. Rest assured, everything is fine! From Zach, the manager at Brick Cafe/Halsey’s: “We’re doing renovations on the restaurant to freshen things up. It’s been a while since anything has been done esthetically to the inside and we felt it was time for an update. The work should take about a month. We’re all very excited for the change and can’t wait to get our new doors open!” Halsey’s Tavern will still be operating its typical hours: all day Thursday – Sunday and from 5:00pm-on Monday – Wednesday. So we can all breathe a sigh of relief: Brick Cafe isn’t going anywhere! Which is great news, because I’d like to be reunited with this plate of gnocchi soon. One Comment Nathan March 10th, 2016 I think Brick’s best years ended sometime around 2012. Last two visits were definitely disappointing. They need to freshen up more than just the decor. Will not be back unless I start to hear renewed buzz about the place. Otherwise there are too many good (and better) places to eat in Astoria these days.
