This just in! Looks like Kaufman Astoria Studios is about to be home to a new ritzy supper club! Intended to mimic the swanky, Art Deco themed underground establishments that dotted New York City in the 1920’s, The Astor Room will serve up  authentic eats, have live jazz and stately decor, including a luxe marble staircase installation, peacock-print wallpaper and vintage inspired lighting fixtures. Top this off with their mahogany glad ‘Beaver Bar’ where mixologists will be serving up some of the prohibition era’s best cocktails and you’ve got what is sure to be a hit! The idea is the brainchild of Chris Vlacich of the renowned Piccola Venezia, the contemporary American classics are by Chef Richard Pims, and Jerry Madden’s handcrafted artisanal cocktails round out the offerings.

The Astor Room is set to open tomorrow, February 10th. WHA hears they’re already taking reservations. Valentine’s Day romantic dinner, anyone? (34-12 36th St. at 35th Ave. Astoria 718-255-1947)

Hi there, we had a bad experience there yesterday at brunch. Food took 90 minutes to arrive and was served cold. The waitress didn’t offer us anything — like free drinks or dessert or whatever — to make us feel better. I don’t recommend it.
