We’re two Queens natives born and raised in Queens\, and have spent years volunteering in and around the neighborhood. Queens Bloc is our way of making a difference\, while spotlighting local small businesses\, and creating events that bring together people from all different walks of life. \nWOMEN WITH A CAUSE: Women with a Cause is also a Queens based organization that we felt was a great pick to partner with for our first event. Women with a Cause is also a Queens based organization and a nonprofit community based shelter. They are dedicated to helping women in need. They provide shelter to homeless women. Services include case management\, and mental health. Some of the services Women With a Cause provide are assistance in searching for permanent housing\, counseling and peer counseling\, employment and job training services\, health clinic\, HIV/AIDS testing and counseling\, and information services and referrals. \nTOYS FOR TACOS: The new\, unwrapped toy you bring in will be directly donated to Women with a Cause’s annual Christmas party. This party allows mothers at the shelter to have an amazing night with their children – it’s filled with food\, music\, holiday spirit\, and a lot of fun. This year\, Women with a Cause is having a toy shortage – they want to ensure every single child goes home with a present. That’s where you come in. Bring in your toy\, get stamped\, and enjoy tacos all night – then dance them off to some great music\, and meet some really awesome people. \nTHE SHILLELAGH TAVERN: This awesome venue is located in Astoria 47-22 30th Avenue. They’re GREAT hosts\, and will be having drink specials all night long. (We hope you love margaritas!) \nQuestions? We’re all ears. You can reach us at info@queensbloc.com. \nDon’t forget to RSVP! It’ll help us ensure the unlimited tacos are really unlimited! RSVP HERE: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/toys-for-tacos-tickets-29790360771 \n(This is a FREE 21+ event) \nWe hope to see you there! \n
