Salsa In Queens is partnering with Autism Radio to raise funds for autism awareness. The new Astoria based dance studio will host their monthly salsa social on Friday April 28th, donating a portion of the proceeds to Autism Radio. The $15 entrance fee includes a 4 hour party with a live dj, a free salsa class, and entry into a prize raffle.
This is the third year Autism Radio partners with a local business to raise money- the first two events were hosted by the UFC gym in New Hyde Park Long Island, New York. Last year the gym raised over $2,000 with their annual “Grappling for Autism” fundraiser event. Brandon Adames, Head Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructor at the UFC gym and organizer of the annual events said, “People on the Autism spectrum are talented and unique individuals. Many of them find an outlet to express themselves through various forms of art, including dance.” The studio expects to raise over $2500 this year.
As part of the campaign this year, there will also be a GoFundMe page for those who cannot attend the social, but would like to donate to the cause. Tickets to the social can be bought at salsainqueens.com or by calling 347.695.4387.
The studio is located on 34-27 Steinway Street in Astoria, Queens between 34th and 35th ave
