SUMMARY:Astoria Park Alliance presents Shore Fest 2017
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, September 16th\, Astoria Park Alliance will bring its signature Shore Fest event back to Astoria Park. The event festivities will take place on the Main Lawn adjacent to the Bocce Court off Shore Boulevard \nThe event has intentionally been scheduled for mid-September to take advantage of comfortable weather that late summer brings. \nLive music will be performed on a main stage procured by The Alliance with a rotating set of local musicians from 1 – 5 pm. Among the confirmed acts\, Astoria newcomer Ithalia Johnson will deliver her soothing rhythmic wave of folk\, rock and soul\, while Astoria veterans The East River Blues Band performs American classics. \nShore Fest promises to bring fun for all ages with classic competitions like potato sack races\, egg on a spoon and bean bag toss. Local Astoria retailers have donated generous gift prizes for Shore Fest participants. \nShore Fest will also be a place to learn a new skill or hobby like bocce\, yoga\, zumba\, ukulele\, and even improv acting. Kids will be encouraged to jump around inside a giant bounce house\, get their faces painted and enjoy assorted arts and crafts activities on the main lawn. \nAstoria Park Alliance is celebrating its ten-year anniversary\, and 2017 also marks the organization’s first year as an official 501(c)(3) non-profit. APA welcomes the community to celebrate these achievements while connecting with other Astorians in enjoying the park’s beauty. Shore Fest is a free and fun festival that promises to close out the summer in style. \nAttendees are encouraged to RSVP on Eventbrite and check APA’s social media pages for programming updates. In case of inclement weather\, Shore Fest will proceed the following day. \nEvent Partners: 5 Crew Dynasty\, Art Beat 5\, Art Fiesta Studio\, Astor Apiaries\, Bee In Motion\, The Noguchi Museum\, New York Road Runners (NYRR)\, NYC Ferry\, NYC Parks Playmobile\, Roberto Buscarsi Ukulele & Unlimited Body NY \nAstoria Park Alliance exists to ensure the conservation and sustainability of Astoria Park for all New Yorkers by empowering public partnerships and creating programming that reflects cultural diversity. The Alliance advocates for green and open space in the park\, with a keen eye on environmental issues. \n
