NYC enters Phase 2 of reopening on Monday, June 22. This includes hair salons, real estate, non-essential in-store retail, and perhaps the most exciting of all…outdoor dining!
Of course, there are many safety rules and regulations in place. You can read the full requirements here, but here are some highlights:
- All tables must be six feet apart; total number of available tables must be determined by how many are able to be six feet apart
- Indoor dining/seating area must be closed to customers
- Employees must wear face coverings at all times
- Customers must wear face coverings except when seated
- Individuals seated at the same table must be part of the same party (but may be from different households) with a maximum of 10 people per table
Outdoor dining is such a huge part of NYC culture, especially in Astoria where sidewalks spill over with tables and chairs and most storefronts completely open up to let the outside in. Lots of Astoria locales are opening for outdoor dining as soon as they are able, while others will slowly expand over the next few weeks.
These are the businesses who have announced they will be reopening outdoor seating on June 22 on social media, or where we have seen seating set up. We will continue to add, and please feel free to let us know if there are others that are open for al-fresco dining.
