The biggest change, besides the new ownership? The name. No longer The Geekery, it’s now known as Good Games NYC. We chatted with new owner Kevin An about his vision for the new shop, what will change, and what will stay the same. Good Games NYC will still carry much of the same merchandise that the Geekery did, but An is also looking to expand its collection to create a shop that’s even ore inclusive to gamers of all ages and skill levels. “One of many our goals is to make sure we are able to serve our community at large,” he told us. “There are lots of people and families who are interested in board games, but don’t really know where to begin. We have a few plans on how we can help: we will be offering free monthly demo sessions, for folks to be able to come in and get set up playing games they may be interested in. “Our board game library’s inventory will soon be available to see on our site, so you can see what we have for Open Play before trekking out. Also last but not least, with a fresh inventory we are really looking forward to having more kid-friendly games available in addition to just having a wider selection of games in general.” He also said that Good Games will continue the Geekery’s Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons events, as well. Good Games NYC was officially opened for business on February 28, but their Grand Opening will be happening next weekend, March 8 through 10. The Grand Opening will feature a 10% off sale on all board games and accessories. What’s your favorite game? Check out the selection at Good Games — and you might just find a new one!
