There’s a new Astoria opening you should know about, and it’s not the usual bar-restaurant-chain store that you’re accustom to hearing about here at WHA these days. GreenChip Electronic Waste Soliutions, a Brooklyn based e-waste solutions expert, has opened their first Queens location at 19-36 38th Street in Astoria and you need to know about it.

What you can expect at their new facility is year-round electronic waste drop-off service where your items are recycled and undergo secure data destruction. No more wondering what to do with that old laptop or VCRs (RIP childhood technology,) GreenChip will take your old items and securely dispose of your electronic waste free of charge. Their mission is to keep New York’s landfills clean of hazardous electronic waste and ensure a better future for the city. Now, that’s a mission we can all get behind!

A quick list of items they’re able to accept:

Computers
Keyboard & Mice
Cell Phones
Scanners
Monitors
Cables
A/V Equipment
VCR/DVD Players
Printers
TVs
Video Game Consoles
Tablets & PDAs

Not accepted: Batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, air conditioners, household appliances.

Drop offs are accepted at their Astoria location every Saturday, 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM.
