Who’s Open New Year’s Day 2018 Who’s Hiring In Astoria: End of 2017 Edition It is with a heavy heart that we let you know that Ha’s Chinese (40-17 Broadway) has closed after about two and a half months of business. We noticed it was closed via their Instagram account earlier this week, then saw the note on their website shortly after that. We had heard so many good things—and WHA staff had eaten there and expressed a fondness for the food—but in the end, perhaps the economy was too much of a crushing element. Regardless, we are very sorry to see Ha’s Chinese close—arguably, a place that made the best and tastiest Chinese food in the neighborhood. The irony is that we are publishing this on the eve of Chinese/Lunar New Year. We’ve reached out to owners Ben Sandler and Jen Lim to get more information and will pass that on when we get it. Farewell, Ha’s Chinese. We’ll miss you and we wish Ben and Jen all the best in whatever they have planned for next. Reply Britta February 17th, 2018 Very sad to see this place close. No doubt that the owners will do good things in the future, though. Their restaurants are something special.
