They’ve been open for a little over a month, and we’ve FINALLY made our way over. And based on the bites and sips we enjoyed, it was worth the wait! Once we had some fabulous wine to sip on, it was time to order some snacks. Starting with something light was key, so the Quinoa Salad was a great choice. The combination of butternut squash, cranberries, and whipped goat cheese was lovely. Okay, now for something a little more indulgent. I’m a sucker for bacon-wrapped dates, also known as Devils on Horseback. I’ve tried making them myself more times than I can count, and they always come out too crispy in sections and underdone in others. These little ones were cooked to perfection, and the thick, rich goat cheese dipping sauce was a tasty companion. Now, back to something a bit healthier. One impressive thing about Vintage is their variety of vegetarian options. Even for a meat eater like me, it’s cool to have lighter fare to choose from. The next thing we snacked on was the Portobello Banh Mi Sammie, with marinated mushrooms, pickled carrots, cilantro, cucumber, mushroom pate, and carrot Sriracha. It all combined for a crunchy, satisfying bite. That whole healthy thing? Out the window on this one! Pork Belly is always a nice treat, and this version, which was braised in Queens Lager, was no exception. The Brussel Sprouts on the side provide a nice textural contrast for a very well-rounded plate. Thanks to Vintage for treating us to a little sampling of the menu!
