Join Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) for an engaging discussion to mark the launch of the Forced From Home exhibition. Using a combination of first-hand field experience and top-level insight, the speakers will discuss some of the most pressing needs of refugees and internally-displaced persons (IDPs) in our projects around the world, and explain why this is the time to focus attention on this important and pressing issue. MSF executive director Jason Cone will explain why it is vitally important that MSF speak out now, and aid workers will share stories of how displacement has affected our patients in places like South Sudan and the Middle East. Plus, the Mayor’s commissioner for immigrant affairs will bring the discussion back home: how do we see the impact of the crisis in New York City? Hosted by The New School. A Q&A will follow the discussion. Panelists: Jason Cone, MSF-USA Executive Director. Commissioner Nisha Agarwal, Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs. Dr. Africa Stewart, OBGYN and Forced From Home tour guide. Dr. Stewart has completed four assignments with MSF, in South Sudan and Nigeria. Michelle Mays, nurse and project coordinator for MSF programs in Nigeria, Jordan, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, and India. Opening remarks by professor Miriam Ticktin, associate professor of anthropology and co-director of Zolberg Institute for Migration and Mobility. For parking and directions, click here.
