A few days ago officially marked the beginning of summer—although we all know it’s been summer in our hearts for a while now. So it’s no wonder we’re all scouring Astoria for a nice place to rest our feet and catch that summer breeze. Luckily for the 31st Avenue area, some of the local favorites—Café Madame SouSou and Enthaice—will be adding new outside seating just in time to enjoy the weather this season.

The adorably chic French café sits near the corner of 33rd Street and 31st Avenue. It’s an inviting place with warm neutral colors accented by the décor that is so reminiscent of classic Paris.

The glowing lighting and the tranquil ambience make it a cozy place to sit and chat while sipping on their coffee and eating those delectable pastries and donuts (sourced fromBalthazar and Doughnut Plant).

Slightly tucked into 33rd street, Madam SouSou’s has found a home amongst the brick buildings and lush green trees for a little over a year now.The upcoming expansion of their seating to small outdoor tables and chairs will no doubt be an exciting addition for the entire community.

Due to its mixture of posh and vintage design and comforting Thai dishes, Enthaice is any diner’s heaven. The mostly amber and cool blue lighting set the stage for the casual, yet very edgy dining experience ahead.

With a collage of old, wooden window shutters and cabinets filled with classical dishware lining one wall and a set of modern steel-lined and glass garage doors framing the outer parts of the restaurant, it’s impossible to miss the fashionable, old-world charm of the place.

The menu offers an extensive list of Traditional Northern Thai food that’s inclusive for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. The plates range from juicy duck to succulent fish and vegetables to seriously gratifying Pad Thai.

The Thai kitchen, now in its third summer in Astoria, is finally ready to add new outdoor seating for their patrons right on the spacious corner of 34th street and 31st Avenue.
So whether you’re enjoying an iced coffee while reading your favorite book or out to dinner with friends, there’s always a chance to kick back, relax, and take advantage of the hot summer sun or a cool night’s breeze.
