Tonight is the monthly meeting of Green Shores! This community group does amazing things for our waterfront. The meeting is at 6:30pm at the Greater Astoria Historical Society (Broadway between 35th & 36th Streets) on the 4th floor of the Quinn Building. All are welcome and light refreshments will be served. They’ll be talking especially about Leaf Fest, which is happening this weekend! Here’s more info on that event:

RAINEY PARK, QUEENS (34th Avenue & Vernon Blvd)

Join Green Shores NYC, The Astoria Park Alliance & Partnerships for Parks for our 2nd Annual LEAF FEST!

Help ready two of our favorite waterfront parks for the winter (Leaf Fest in Astoria Park will be on Saturday, 12/4 from 10am to 1pm-additional details coming soon).

Leaf Fest 2010 is brought to you by Green Shores NYC, Astoria Park Alliance & Partnerships for Parks
in collaboration with The Western Queens Compost Initiative & the Rainey Park Group.

All materials & refreshments will be provided for volunteers.
Leaves collected will be composted by the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation.

Participants and especially groups are encouraged to register in advance (email address below).
