We wish all those who have served our country a good Veterans Day today, and honor and thank them for their service and bravery in the past, present and future. Our own local VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Post on 31-35 41st St. has been in the community for over 50 years, and was renamed the “Rocco Moretto Post” in 2013 after a native Astorian and World War II veteran. Moretto was drafted in February 1943 and served in Europe as a combat infantryman. He landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy June 6, 1944, and fought with his unit in every major engagement for the rest of World War II. And don’t forget to thank any vets you know or see for their service, today and always! :) Twitter Facebook Email Print Rocco MorettoVeterans Day Related scoops What to Do in Astoria This Week: Cider Dinners, Momo Crawl, (...)
