Yoga is a great way to relax and decompress from the stress of the day, and a gentle way to get in shape. But if you have little ones, managing a time to get to class and make sure your babies are being taken care of can be its own stress.

And that’s the inspiration behind Astoria Yoga Club, Astoria’s newest yoga studio at 22-67 28th Street. The studio offers yoga classes for stretching and strength to adults alongside a kids’ play area in the next room, so parents can bring their little ones, ages 1 to 4, and not have to worry about scheduling a sitter. Classes are weekdays at 9am and 11am.

Owner Joanna Minos told us, “My inspiration was families, and trying to help with yoga classes and bringing families together.” In addition to the play space, there are also mommy-and-me classes, and family yoga on the weekends for everyone. On Saturdays, there’s a preteen class, too.

The studio offers both drop-in classes as well as monthly package deals, and you can register online. Other services include yoga and dancing parties for kids ages 1 to 5, as well as grown-up yoga parties with wine and refreshments.
Joanna’s mission through yoga is to help all people remember to “enjoy life and live in the present. If I can help one person feel better,” she says, “my job is done!”
