Rise and shine, Astoria! Bareburger has recently debuted their new breakfast menu, and it’s definitely worth getting out of bed for.

You may know the struggle of waking up early (and hungry) on the weekends, hoping for a spot to have a relaxing, tasty meal, but your favorite brunch location doesn’t open until 11am or later. Bareburger is looking to fix that: they’re now opening at 9am on Saturdays and Sundays to serve up their twist on some early morning favorites. They invited us in for a complimentary tasting, and here are some of our highlights! (Delicious photos, as usual, are courtesy of Marielle Solan.)

Let’s dig in.

First order of business: PANCAKES. Bareburger offers the fantastic option of ordering a “Flight of Pancakes,” which we highly recommend for the table. These sweet delights were fluffy and delicious, and (Surprise!) they are even gluten-free. Pictured left to right are the Chocolate Thunder (with hazelnut spread and whipped cream),  the crowd favorite Coco Loco (with lemon curd, coconut, and blueberries), and You’re My Boy Blue (with fresh blueberries and whipped cream).

Next up: tacos! We can pretty much eat tacos at any hour of the day, so we were happy to see them on the menu. Pictured here is the Eggy Pop: scrambled eggs, smoked brisket, queso fresco, pickled red onion, habanero mayo, and salsa verde. If you like your breakfasts savory, this is an excellent option.

There are a few different breakfast bowls/plates to try, and we were lucky enough to sample the Tottie Too Hottie, which is pretty much the dream hangover breakfast. This awesome bowl contains tater tots, guacamole, poached egg, black forest bacon, and spicy pico de gallo.

You can also go a little healthier, if you’re into that sort of thing. There are a few salads on the menu, and you can also customize your egg order to include a number of sides, like a fruit cup or a side salad. Here, we have eggs on whole grain toast with greens, pickled onions, avocado, and shredded cheese, with an especially tasty potato hash.

And finally, if you really want to go for it and treat yo’ self, here are the chicken and waffles. They are just as good as you’re hoping they are, and are a great way to start your day. Now that it’s officially comfort food season, this is pretty much the perfect breakfast to have on your table.

Next time you’re looking for some early morning grub, consider grabbing a seat at Bareburger. Those pancakes alone were worth the trip!
