Before planting themselves in Astoria in April 2015, the partners Mathew, Kendy, and Wilson spent their summers at the LIC Flea and Food Market, building a following under the early name of Tea n’ Milk. As their name suggests, Tea and Milk focuses on the tea–there are no artificial flavorings or powders here and tea is brewed fresh to order. Their menu features crafted Concept creations as well as Traditional Teas, and these brews have won awards! They’ve received Best Bubble Tea, Best Service, and Best Tea Selection in the Best of the Boro. If you’re looking for something familiar, their classic milk tea consists of Nilgiri Blue Mountain Black Tea mixed with locally-produced Battenkill Valley Creamery half and half for a full and creamy flavor. For regular customers, the Dark Roasted Oolong Tea topped with sweet house-made signature cream, is a daily fix and dependable pick-me-up for the warm summer days and cold winter nights alike. Your favorite powder-based taro milk tea is almost unrecognizable in its true form at Tea and Milk. In this signature drink the taro is cooked, pureed with dairy and sugar, and blended with Nilgiri Blue Mountain Black Tea. If you looking for a full, creamy, perfectly sweet taste without a spec of purple food coloring, then you must try this Taro Root Milk Tea. As warmer weather approaches, the most refreshing item on the menu has to be the Hibiscus Flower Peach White Tea. A little bit tart, a little bit sweet, and a whole lot of refreshing taste to quench your thirst. Pair it with aloe vera for its added cooling properties and you have a totally Instagrammable treat for the heat. Photo Courtesy of Tea and Milk The shoppe also offers treats from city partners like Dough Doughtnuts, City Cakes Cookies, and Ceci Cela Bakery croissants and tarts. The friendly staff and cozy environment make Tea and Milk a perfect destination for your morning tea, afternoon date, or evening hangout.
