The evening was full of great people, killer food, and all around good vibes. (Seriously, how tasty does that photo above look?) But don’t take just my word for it. I asked some local Astorians who attended what their favorite menu item was, and you can bet they had some opinions: Ashley and Brian of @QueensEats raved about the sandwiches, pictured below. What’s not to love, with all the glorious meat surrounded by a pretzel bun? Alexandra of @QueensofQueens NY loved the chicken, which was juicy and cooked to perfection. My girl Emily from We Heart Astoria (who put the whole event together, NBD) was especially fond of the sausage. Since she was working the room all night and didn’t have much time to sit down and eat, the fact that she remembered this so well really speaks to the dish’s tastiness! (Mackenzi, WHA’s resident vegetarian, is excited about their vegan sausage, which is a pretty cool offering.) Javi from HiFi Records and I actually have the exact same two favorites: the beef brisket and the mac and cheese! I’m a major sucker for beef brisket, and their version didn’t disappoint. But I ALSO couldn’t stop eating the mac and cheese. It got to the point where I was eyeing everyone else’s portion to see if they would finish it. Can’t let good food go to waste! The restaurant is currently in a “soft opening” stage, testing out different menu items, drinks, and service systems. They’re aiming for a mid-May official opening, which we will definitely keep you updated on! Have you been to Salt & Bone yet? Tell us what you think! The drinks were great but the brisket was all chopped up.. I have never heard of brisket prepared like that before. I will definitely give it a 2nd chance since it was a soft opening. The mac and cheese was good but nothing really spectacular. ABC’s Mac and Cheese is still my favorite in Astoria. Reply Drew Morgan May 4th, 2017 Deliciously seasoned BBQ food. Everything was scrumptious! I definitely will be returning. A+! Reply Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
