Yes, you can totally do it! And there’s an event this weekend, entitled Marvelous Mushrooms, that will help teach you how. It’s taking place on Saturday from 1-4pm, and is organized by Green Thumb and will be held at Smiling Hogshead Ranch, 25-30 Skillman Avenue in LIC. More info: “Fungi can be helpful in your garden and delicious in the kitchen. This class offers a peek into the fungi kingdom at large and addresses DIY indoor growing and cultivation methods with the option to transfer your fungi to your outdoor garden. In addition to a demonstration of basic propagation techniques, the class offers resources for finding mushroom materials to work with as you set about on your homegrown mycological pursuits.” To attend, RSVP here. It’s not often we come across DIY-mushroom-focused events, and we think this one will be pretty interesting.
