No doubt most of you have heard the news—Astoria Park is the recipient of $30 million from the city, one of five parks (one in each borough) in NYC receiving such a windfall. We’re all pretty excited about it here at WHA, and we hope you are, too. Now comes the time to figure out how to spend the money, and the city is smart to hold community meetings to get input from folks that live there. The one for Astoria is coming up on Wednesday, November 16, 7-9pm at Bohemian Hall. If you have any ideas on how to implement/spend this money in Astoria Park, definitely attend and share your opinions. It’s very important that the local community has a say. Plus there will be refreshments! And stuff for the kids to occupy themselves with while the parents participate in this important endeavor. Spanish speakers will have translators available (would be nice if there was a Greek translator, too, this being Astoria). We hope to see you on the 16th!
