Astoria and LIC Street Fairs 2016 Do you have too much stuff? We bet you do. Have you ever wanted to get rid of it but felt aggravated by the process of purging because you don’t know where it will go? Or, are you just looking for something specific to add to your household? Well, we have at least one solution for you—a free swap this weekend in Sunnyside! From 11am-2pm on Sunday July 17, you’ll have the chance to bring clean, portable, and reusable items to the lovely space at Sunnyside Community Services (43-31 39th Street), and swap ‘em out for something else—books, toys, fashionable clothing, housewares, and electronics are just some of the things that will be available (furniture and other large items, alas, will not). But you don’t have to bring something to take something! Bring a bag and see what’s there—you might find exactly what you’re looking for. GrowNYC is the driving force behind this swap. “Everyone knows New Yorkers have the coolest stuff. And you can find it at Stop ‘N’ Swap!” said GrowNYC Executive Director Marcel Van Ooyen. “These events bring neighbors together and reduce the city’s carbon footprint by facilitating reuse and encouraging waste reduction.” Anything left over at the end of the day is donated or recycled. So head on over to Sunnyside Community Services on Sunday. Good luck and have fun!
