Vegans, we’ve got a great event for you! Queens-based cookbook author Terry Romero (best known for her bestseller Salad Samurai) will be discussing her latest mouthwatering work, Protein Ninja, at Astoria Bookshop on Wednesday, February 24 at 7pm. We know how challenging it can be to find new, exciting ways to get plant-based protein, so Terry’s crave-worthy recipes are certain to be a welcome addition for vegans of the neighborhood. Some examples of her creations include: Korean Tofu Taco Salad Lemongrass Tempeh Meatballs with Peanut Satay Sauce Waffled Tofu, Waffles & Collards Bowl Black Bean Hemp Brownies Peanut Butter Coconut Cherry Chewies So what spots does a plant-based food connoisseur like Terry recommend for good vegan eats in the area? For starters, she gives high praise to Duzan Grill for their “insane” hummus. Another favorite is Kebab Cafe, who offer an excellent falafel. For sweets, Terry is all about COFFEED in Long Island City. It’s her go-to spot when looking for great coffee and a solid vegan cookie.
