Tonight Show Saxophonist Funks Up Sunday Nights at The Strand

The Strand Smokehouse has always been a great spot for live music, and a new Sunday evening session makes our neighborhood BBQ joint THE place to be for tunes this fall.

Astorian Ian Hendrickson-Smith, the saxophone player for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, has assembled a group of world-class musicians to take the stage at The Strand for music fans of the area. In addition to performing with the Roots for The Tonight Show, Ian has worked with an all-star lineup of artists, many of whom are probably in heavy rotation your playlists: Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, Bob Dylan, St Vincent, and Phish, just to name a few!

Rounding out the band is Clark Gayton, (Bruce Springsteen, Sting) Al Street, (Lee Fields, Zigaboo) Brian Wolfe, (David Byrne, St. Vincent) and Eric Finland. Their sound is a soulful, funky mix of covers and originals, guaranteed to complement the lively, energetic vibe of The Strand.
