We’ve heard from the fine folks behind Tea and Milk, the wonderful tea/bubble tea vendor who has been at the Astoria and LIC Fleas, and they’ve confirmed with us that they have the lease to a new brick and mortar location in Astoria! It’s very exciting to think that they’ll be opening up a permanent location here in the neighborhood. I can almost taste the best taro milk tea out there, mmm…
They plan to reveal their new location over time through social media posts, so head keep tabs on their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram feeds for clues (we know the location but have promised not to spoil it for the guys).

I have been to ice breakers and honestly, their need to change is most likely due to the fact that the rent on Broadway is crazy. How many bubble teas do they need to sell in order to pay 10k rent? I think it’s to supplement their income… I have had their tea there and it’s just okay.
I think that they have the best Taro bubble tea out there. Taste delish! Can’t wait to visit thie brick and mortar!!!!
the bubble tea place switching to shabu-shabu is on broadway, right before crescent. can’t recall the name of it…
They used to be called “Ice breakers” near Crescent and have now switched to Shabu Shabu. Has anyone been there? It kinda seemed odd to me during the transition when they were serving bubble tea along with Shabu Shabu.

What bubble tea place is switching to shabu shabu? That’s a big improvement. Woodside has a Thai shabu place with bubble tea that I really like.
I would like to know if there is a big demand in Astoria for tea/bubble tea? When a shop decides to open up in a neighborhood do they choose a product based on what they want to sell or what they think the neighborhood is asking for?
same. There’s a lot of bubble tea places! The place near me is turning their bubble tea joint into a shabu shabu spot.
I only know of ice breakers (which is gone now I think?), tapioca story and monkey king bb tea. Is there another? I honestly don’t know if any of these places are up to par with these guys in the article only because I have tried almost everything they offer on their flea market menus. I feel like they make their teas way different compared to other places but that’s just my two cents?
