We’re just as curious as you are about what to expect, so we asked her our burning questions and she graciously provided us with answers. Sure, we have an advantage here since we’re all in touch so much, but dang—we want to know what’s the what! Many thanks to Mackenzi for accommodating our curiosity. Here’s the Q&A. First, what is the official name of the new shop and where will it be located? Lockwood Style, 33-02 Broadway (at 33rd Street). What exactly will you offer there? Clothes and accessories, yes, but anything else? How about the clothes sizing? We’ll be offering women’s clothing in sizes 2-20. We hope this larger size range will help set us apart from other clothing stores in the city and will allow women of a range of shapes & sizes to feel comfortable shopping with us. We’ll be about 70% clothing, 30% shoes/bags/jewelry. Look for some fun surprises too, like high fashion coffee table books, imported Japanese tights & stockings, and even a locally made, Astoria based clothing line! How would you describe the Lockwood Style woman? Is she your girl next door, fashion forward risk-taker, etc? Lockwood Style is all about Astoria! We’ve spent time getting to know our customer, and hope our clothing reflects that. We aim to be fashion forward, easy-to-wear, and more than anything affordable. Expect our jeans to run $75, dresses $45-$150, and bags $40 and up. Will you carry pieces by local designers? Right now we’ll be stocking Cabiria (seen above), a local plus size line. Expect a trunk show or pop-up event! What will make Lockwood Style unique as a shopping experience? This will truly be a soup-to-nuts shopping destination. Need something fast? We’re here!. Need something in your size? We’ll help. Have a last minute wedding or work event? We’ve got you. I want the shop to feel intimate yet inviting. From our friendly staff, to the comfy seating area, we want Lockwood Style to be a place people can’t wait to come back to time and time again. We’ll also be listening to feedback, and adjusting our assortment based on what our customers want and need. We’re small enough to be flexible, but large enough to carry a wide assortment of styles. What are you most excited about in the new shop? I’m just excited to have clothes! (Especially clothes in my size!). I think Astoria is long overdue to have a great clothing boutique and we hope Lockwood Style can be that. For fall look for: lots of gray & texture, pops of purple, wool coats, animal prints, laser cut leather skirts, brocade dresses, great basic boots, enameled jewelry, and loads of everyday bags & totes in an array of colors. Will we be able to buy products online as well as in the shop? Yes, clothing and bags will be online. Do you plan to have events at the shop? Trunk shows, fashion previews, and the like? Most definitely. Look for a big blow out grand opening. I’m already planning my outfit and wondering how many cases of champagne we need. We’ll also be doing something special for Small Business Saturday later in November. How does the new shop complement the original Lockwood? Lockwood Style will very much be a part of Lockwood. It’ll have the same fixtures, awnings, and flooring. You’ll be able to use your Lockwood Loyalty rewards at Lockwood Style as well as BORO discounts, gift cards, and the like. When do you expect to open? My very optimistic hope is sometime around November 1. (Look for some previews on their Instagram & Facebook pages!) So there you have it! We’re pretty psyched about what’s coming and can’t wait to spend time at Lockwood Style once it’s open. Of course, we’ll continue to pester Mackenzi with questions as the shop starts to take shape, and bug her about checking out the new space, and we’ll share our impressions with you when the time is right. Thank you for this amazing gem. Lisa Rosado is a dream. I’ve been to both stores, and am now swearing off some of the retail stores I frequent (goodbye, Urban Outfitters!). Your clothes are timeless, unique, and beautiful. Will see you soon! Reply sunny01reno December 18th, 2014 I just read through the entire article of yours and it was quite good. I love your gift shop and would love to love your clothing shop as well, but won’t if it excludes smaller sized woman as well! Reply Brianne September 25th, 2014 So excited for this! Looking forward to having a shop with stylish options for my size! THANK YOU! Reply Beth September 25th, 2014 Is this replacing the current Lockwood or opening adjacent to it? Reply megc September 25th, 2014 No, it is a second store opening a few steps from the current Lockwood. Reply Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
