I normally sit near the bridge and have a fine view but this time quite a bit was blocked by trees that normally never blocked them. Tons of folks around us cleared out and ran to the river. My kid loved them though and that’s what matters. Reply Adam July 2nd, 2014 I saw the guy who was operating it. It was a very impressive, heavy-duty remote-controlled… thing. He had it synched with his iPhone and it was capturing incredible aerial video of the crowd. After a few minutes the NYPD made him bring it down. I was actually reading this post hoping he had submitted some of the aerial images. Reply megc July 2nd, 2014 Wow, thanks for the details! I saw it and my group wondered what the deal was with it. Reply Chris July 1st, 2014 What was up with that creepy drone thing that was flying over the crowd last night? Reply Meagan July 1st, 2014 The fireworks were beautiful!!! But, from where I was sitting, I didn’t hear the symphony at all. Did they play??? Reply megc July 2nd, 2014 Definitely! But it was quiet for that space. I don’t think they were miked.
