Well, as per a comment we received earlier this week from WHA reader Matt, things didn’t seem to work out: Walked by this place today and it’s shut down. There’s graffiti on the inside that says “it had to be about the money” and something about not enjoying summer. I saw the owner loading items into an enterprise rent a van the other morning so I guess that was a bad sign. Yelper Jack B. also contributed this comment to their Yelp page: I went back today and the door was shut with bars. There were menus in the window, but the paint on the front was ruined, some graffitti. I peered through the drapes, and the inside was vandalized and covered in black paint. Something about “It had to be about the money.” The inside was wrecked, and looked like something from a horror movie. A real shame. Astoria needed more places like both versions of this place. Yikes. Too bad—we had really hoped they could have made it. Though these accounts sound a bit sinister. Here’s hoping something good will fill this space. Sounds like the landlord might have jacked up the rent in response to the area being named an Arts District. What a shame.
