Taking a stroll around LIC yesterday, it was great to see it so vibrant and buzzing with people. Vernon Blvd in particular was quite busy, as people were enjoying the nice day and no doubt indulging in a delicious meal. I was taken immediately with Woodbines, the new gastropub, which replaced Lounge 47. I was happy to see that the space was completely renovated, boasting high ceilings, beautiful reclaimed wood tables and what do you know…a special menu.
The menu showcased a Restaurant Week promotion, which is indeed what’s going on in the nabe right now from September 15th – September 21st. Woodbine’s along with eight other restaurants in the vicinity are featuring $15 lunch and $25 dinner menus, which offer a great opportunity to try a few of them this week. The offer comes to us from the folks at the Queens Tribune who are also working on a special TV series, Best Places to Live, with an upcoming LIC episode in the works this week.
In the meantime, here are the yummy places you can sample this week during Vernon Blvd/LIC Restaurant Week:
Testaccio Ristorante – Contemporary Roman cuisine
Woodbines – Craft beers, upscale pub
Madera Grill – Cuban cuisine & steakhouse
Alobar – Fresh ingredients, locally sourced meat (including the almighty pig!)
Open Door – Brunch, lunch, salads, sandwiches, eclectic fare
Manducatis Rustica – Rustic, homemade Italian food
Cranky’s – French, Louisiana & Creole
Creek & Cave – Fun Mexican Cuisine
The Z Hotel – fanciful burgers, wings, bar treats and beyond
