The penultimate day of this 12 day promotion brings with it a great prize from one of our favorite watering holes, Sweet Afton.Ā  Also known as “The Astoria Local,” Sweet Afton is famous for their laid back, speak-easy vibe and the craftiest cocktail menu in town.Ā  The loyal staff takes pride in making sure that every patron is treated like a good friend and that certainly keepsĀ most Astorians coming back each and every weekend.

Today’s giveaway is a brunch for 2 (including drinks) at Sweet Afton – which if you’re already a fan, you know what a sweet deal it is.Ā  Just to give you a taste of what you can expect, Sweet Afton’s Breakfast Burger is my favorite brunch menu item that brings hearty breakfast food to another level.Ā  In addition to theĀ pristine LaFrieda patty, lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles, it’s also topped with a fried egg.Ā  More ethnic dishes such as an Irish Breakfast Roll or a Grilled Cheese with Irish Bacon are some of the other ways Sweet Afton’s brunch stands out.

To enter, comment on this post and share with us your favorite bar food.Ā  A winner will be chosen at random on Thursday morning, so stay tuned – and make sure you provide us with your email, so we can contact you.Ā  Good luck, and don’t forget to come back tomorrow to check out our big finale of We Heart Astoria’s 12 Days of Giveaways. Loved hearing about DrPepper wings. Like to see nachos or empanadas at a bar. But cant really beat the burger at Sweet Afton.

Happy New Year and Cheers!

Favorite bar food: fried pickles. potato pancakes. mexican style grilled corn. sweet potato fries.
(to pick one from a variety of tasty astoria places: Sweet Afton. Bohemian hall. Hellgate Social. Sparrow.)

My favorite bar food of all time is from a college bar in PA, called the Chicken Lounge. They made the best of all time nachos. They started with Doritos chips, covered in re-fried beans, salsa, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and grilled chicken. Second favorite is potato pancakes with sour cream and apple butter. Mmmmm I want them now!

Colleen

french fries with a garlic aioli, hands down. the salty greasy garlicky combo cannot is just what a belly full of beer needs!

Anthony

I love buffalo wings at the bar, but I can’t resist the burger at Sweet Afton!

I like peanuts and popcorn. But I order the burger pretty much every time I go to Sweet Afton. I love getting a dirty pickle martini with it.

NOTHING is better than sweet afton’s fried pickles! other wise it’s got to be french fries, mac and cheese, or a grilled cheese. i love old town bar’s governor sandwich.

Jim

A cheeseburger served on white bread, the specialty of many legit dive bars.

Nicole

sliders or jalapeƱo poppers generally. but if spinach and artichoke dip is available, i’m most definitely down for that first and foremost!

Mark

I’ll remember Sweet Afton for opening up up the week of my 21st birthday and it’s where I went to get my first beer as a 21-year old.

Anyway, wings are probably my favorite bar food which are absent from their menu but I’ve yet to try any of Sweet Afton’s offerings though.

Vicki

My favorite bar food is the cherry that has been soaking in my Manhattan!

Clayton

Dr. Pepper wings from Pluckers in Dallas are my favorite, but I do love that Sweet Afton Breakfast Burger and Blueberry Muddle.

Jenny

Wings are probably my favorite bar food, but the Sweet Afton burger and fried pickles cannot be missed!

David Bromley

Since we’re talking Sweet Afton; have to say my favorite bar food is the Habanero Margarita. I happen to count Tequila as a major food group.

Jen

those afton fried pickles are pretty boss…
cheese fries always do the trick though

Shannon

Fried pickles are perfect bar food and Sweet Afton’s friend pickles are amazing. Great bar food is that which can be picked up and popped in – it should be fried and tangy for the beer drinker. Or the bourbon drinker.

Kelly S

Fried pickles! Or fries and pickles, if fried pickles are unavailable. Nothing better than that salty/sour combo.

Susan

oh man….I think every time I’ve gone to Sweet Afton I’ve ordered a minimum of 3 orders of fried pickles. The first one is great, but after a few cocktails…. you just need another. And another.

Megan

I love the sweet afton fried pickles! Obviously with copious amounts of beer.

Steph

Hot wings with blue cheese are my favorite bar food. But specifically at Sweet Afton – oh those friend pickles!

Jill

Anything fried, but especially good french fries. Salty and crispy. And now I’m hungry.

Hamberguesa

There’s nothing like sitting at a bar and washing down hot wings with some ice cold beer.

Laura B

As a southerner, I have to say that properly made buttermilk biscuits are a must for any good brunch.

Jonah

I am a fan of Afton’s Irish Breakfast. My all time favorite bar food is the cheese plate at McSorley’s. So what if it’s just a plate of sliced cheese and onions with a package of saltines. You combine it all with their spicy mustard and it’s the perfect bite.
