We Can’t Wait to Heart The Astor Bake Shop

A new bakery called Astor Bake Shop has been in the works for quite some time and we’re so excited for it to open.  Meg has patiently been observing their progress and paying attention to the threads that have been posted about it on Astorians.com.  The bakery’s owner has been doing quite a job of hyping the community up about Astor’s opening, and we have to admit that we’re pretty pumped too.  Its website is now live, which boasts a delicious-sounding menu of cakes, tarts, signature cupcakes and other yummies.  They’ll have savory foods like burgers, sandwiches, baked chicken and vegetarian options too.

What’s even more impressive is that the owner, George McKirdy has certainly gotten his proverbial spoon wet at highly accomplished establishments such as NYC’s Nobu, Tribeca Grill, Butter, Blue Fin, Cafe Boloud and others.  He even cooked for the Queen of French cooking herself, Julia Child. Wow – we’re duly impressed and are priviledged to have his place open in our nabe so soon.

The rumored opening is scheduled for June 18th. Stay tuned for more buzz.

Thursday – Friday – 6:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Saturday – 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Sunday – 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m
