The Queens Art Express returns! In its second year, it will “feature performances, exhibitions, art events and great places to eat in the unique cultural communities along the route of the No. 7 train.” 38 art venues and 80 local merchants will be involved during this spring art festival – sounds like something not to miss!

The 4-day event is from Thursday, June 10 to Sunday, June 13.  Events happening in LIC – just one of the Queens communities featured – are scheduled during the entire length of the event. Here are some examples of what’s scheduled throughout Long Island City:

Thursday, June 10
3-6:00pm: MTA Arts for Transit: Music Under New York (MUNY) Performances: Queensboro Plaza, (mezzanine) : Natalia ‘Saw Lady’ Paruz, musical saw player

7:00pm : Long Island City : LaGuardia Performing Arts Center : Short films from the LaGuardia Community including, “Seven Word Pairs for the #7 Train” : FREE : 31-10 Thomson Ave, Room E-241 : 718-482-5151

Friday, June 11

The kickoff party (woo!) is next week, and will feature DJ Velvet & set visuals by multimedia artist Renzo Ortega of Local Project.

The ‘Saw Lady’ – yay! I hope I’ll catch the end tail of her gig as I return home from work. That’ll be a refreshing transfer.

I noticed a bunch of promotions tied with the Arts, including Nixtamal way out there ! And I am curious about this Secret Theatre.
