Here’s my favorite destinations in Astoria to get a great glass of vino (or a cocktail, or two.) Happy Friday, everyone. Rest-Au-Rant Tucked away on 35th avenue is my absolute favorite place to grab a few friends and share a great bottle of vino. In addition to RAR’s great ambiance and wine selection, you’ll find fantastic cheese plates and signature cocktails. WHA tip: If wine isn’t your thing, try the “All Dave All Night” a slightly sweet and totally refreshing cocktail made with St. Germain. Vesta Astoria’s newest culinary star is also one of the best spots in town to find great wines, especially Italian standards. Owners Leo and Joe know their wines and are on hand to suggest a great pairing. Enjoy your wine while listening to Vesta’s always on point musical selections- on my last visit hits from the Modest Mouse Pandora station filled the air. Crescent and Vine The adorable little sister to Fatty’s Cafe, Crescent and Vine is a great after dinner spot. There’s limited seating in this charming establishment but their great selections and tasty lite bites make up for that. (picture courtesy of Yelp!) Winegasm By far the trendiest of the Astoria wine bar circuit, Winegasam gets my vote for best first date wine bar. Don’t miss their small plates, outdoor seating, and stellar decor. WHY tip: Don’t miss their Winegasm Wine School, too! Learn about wines, how to serve, and select them from their talented staff. DiWine The newest of Astoria’s wine bars, DiWine offers great drink specials and has a full menu to take you from cocktails through dinner. Check out their weekend brunches, too.
