Join us on Feb 1st at 7 pm at the Astoria Bookshop to celebrate WORLD READ ALONG DAY! Local authors Jennifer Baker (EVERYDAY PEOPLE), Nana Ekua Brew-Hammond (POWDER NECKLACE), Tori Telfer (LADY KILLERS) and our illustrious leader of our monthly writing workshop and founder of the NO, YOU TELL IT series, Kelly Jean Fitzsimmons will be spearheading our celebration of World Read Along Day!
Want to get involved as well? Do you have a story that you love? Come to the bookshop and join in! Members of the community are more than welcome to share stories that are important to them, whether they be tales passed down through their families, or excerpts from favorite and much-beloved books.
This event is partnered with LitWorld.
LitWorld founded World Read Aloud Day in 2010 because they think everyone in the world should get to read and write. Every year on this day, people all around the globe read aloud together and share stories to advocate for literacy as a human right that belongs to all. Over 90 million people in over 170 countries participated in WRAD last year with #WorldReadAloudDay Top 5 trending internationally on Twitter.
