Please join us at the Astoria Bookshop on March 8th for our first ever WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH OPEN MIC. This year, International Women’s Day comes on the heels of unprecedented global movement for women’s rights, equality, and justice. Sexual harassment, violence, and discrimination against women have captured headlines and public discourse, propelled by a rising determination for change.
We’d like to give you, our customers, writers, and artists, the space to celebrate International Women’s Day and Women’s History month for an evening of your fiction, poetry, and original works by and about women.
All artists welcome: Poets, Spoken Word, Writers, Singers, Musicians, Dancers, Actors, Comics, Visual Artists.
If you are interested in participating in the Open Mic, please email zora@astoriabookshop.com by MARCH 6TH to reserve a slot. Include a short explanation of what you intend to, plus a time estimate of your reading/performance. The maximum amount of time we can offer is 10 minutes.
