NYC Pet Service’s HOWL-O-WEEN

What: Howloween party open to all! Small cover at the door. Open to adults, dogs, kids and babies. Halloween costume contest as well for the dogs as well as a photographer and baked goodies for the doggos!

When: Saturday, October 26 from 1 to 6 p.m.

Pups N’ Pints

What: A Pups N’ Pints event to benefit Friends With Four Paws

When: Wednesday, 10/30 at 7PM (Happy Hour specials extended to 9PM)

Where: Katch (31-19 Newton Ave. Astoria)

With: A Howl-O-Ween Costume Contest! (sign up at 7:30, judging begins at 8PM) with prizes and judges from all the coolest local Astoria spots!15 percent of all bar sales go to support Friends With Four Paws (www.friendswithfourpaws.org).

HOWL-O-WEEN at ViVi’s Pet Care

What: Pet costume contest with refreshments! Prize given to the most interesting costume. Email vivipetcare@gmail.com to enter.

Harvest Festival at Socrates Sculpture Park

What: A Halloween Harvest Festival in the local Park! This year they are celebrating Fèt Gede with vibrant Haitian cultural activities curated by Konfederasyon Nasyonal Vodouyizan Ayisyen (K.N.V.A.) and Imamou, including a Gede song workshop, card readings, and a procession culminating in a dance and drum performance at 3 p.m.!

There will also be sweet treats from local vendors, costume-making & a lantern workshop with artist Rafael Domenech, face-painting by Agostino ArtsUrban Shaman Mama Donna’s Blessing of the Animals & Pet Memorial Altar, and of course our annual Doggie Costume Contest at 2pm with prizes and local judges, Château Le Woof and Friends with Four Paws!

When: Saturday, October 26 12-4 p.m.

Where: Socrates Sculpture Park (32-01 Vernon Blvd, Long Island City, NY 11106)

Halloween at Moore-Jackson Cemetery

What: A one-of-a-kind journey through the imagination. Professional storytellers cleverly weave together a hilarious spooky tale that you’ll hardly believe is being made up on the spot. This Halloween season, take a trip to the small town of Goon River at this unique performance the whole family can enjoy! Wear your Halloween costume! There will also be pumpkin carving, spooky tales, and treats!
Free (donation requested, not required).

Special Halloween Story Time at Astoria Bookshop

What: Join us for story time with Gina as we celebrate Halloween with not-very-spooky books! (The second story time will begin at 11:40 a.m.). We will also be giving out candy to trick or treaters – COSTUMES are encouraged.

When: Thursday, October 31 at 11 a.m. and 11:40 a.m.

Halloween at SingleCut (Featuring HiFi Records)

What: All-day Halloween celebration at SingleCut, including: pumpkin painting at 12 p.m., Hi-Fi pop-up shop, DJ Tank Top from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m., Live music from 8-11 p.m., costume contest 9 p.m. (prizes for best music theme, best couple, most original, and group)

When: Saturday, October 26, starting at 12 p.m.

Ghost Hunting with The Ghost Doctors

What: We’re joining up with NYC’s well-known paranormal investigators “The Ghost Doctors” for a supernatural Halloween quest. $40 includes one free witch’s brew (sangria), a crash course in ghost hunting 101, learn the fundamentals of true ghost hunting and the use of authentic gear that The Ghost Doctors employ while searching to unearth the supernatural side of Blackbird’s. Sign up at Blackbird’s with a cash down payment of $20 to secure your spot!

Astoria Filmmaker’s Club Costume Contest

What: Join the AFC launch party with industry professionals and movie lovers. The filmmakers club is committed to the development of anyone wanting to become a professional filmmaker. The club is a free platform and was created to be a continued educational club for filmmakers which include: everyone. Come ready to network and show your creative / fun side with your fantastic costume. Actors, writer, cameramen and producers will be in attendance so if you’re available to meet new people in the Actor capital of the city then come to Astoria Queens!

“My Nightmare” Comedy Show at Q.E.D.

What: A show where comedians share what scares the sh*t out of them. Hosted by Tracy Soren. Featuring*: Ben Hargrave, Tim Keck, Laura Zabolotsky, Maritza Montañez, Brian Allen Mitchell, Amanda Van Nostrand, and Shenuque Tissera *Lineups subject to change. There will be candy and people are encouraged to come in costume.

Halloween Party & Costume Contest at Bohemian Beer Garden

F.W. Murnau’s Nosferatu with Live Accompaniment

What: The Flushing Remonstrance return to The LetLove Inn on Halloween night for their annual performance of their live score for F.W. Murnau’s seminal 1922 vampire film and horror classic “Nosferatu.” Come join in the music of the children of the night with one of the silent era’s most influential films. Nosferatu’s eerie, gothic feel, groundbreaking special effects and editing — and a chilling performance from Max Schreck as the vampire — set the template for all horror films to follow.

Smash Pumpkins at Passage!

What: It’s the second year of the Passage Pumpkin Smash Party! For a small fee you get to show a pumpkin of your choosing who’s boss. How so? With a baseball bat of course! We create a special room and have special suits. DJ Miggs will be playing at 10 p.m. until late. There will also be a prize for best costume and drinks specials.

When: Friday, November 1 at 9 p.m.

HALLOWEENIES at ICON

What: A Halloweenies Halloween special with three live dancing queens: Jax, Audrey Phoenix and Essence. Party starts at 9 p.m. Costume contest and prizes. NO COVER!
