Hour Children, a local organization whose mission is “to help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and their children successfully rejoin the community, reunify with their families, and build healthy, independent, and secure lives,” runs a couple of thrift stores, and they have a new location on Steinway Street. Their opening was a few days ago, and from what we can tell, the new shop has a lot to offer.

The thrift shop serves an important purpose: it provides employment and training for Hour Children program participants, and also brings much needed money in to the organization. You’ll find mostly furniture at this point in time, but at times you can find games, toys, and clothing, too.

Plus, if you have something to donate, they will pick up for you! This is a big deal in a city where so many people don’t have cars. Just call them at 718-433-4724 ext 320.

So stop on by and see what they have to offer. Here are a few recent shots of their new spot—keep up with them on their Instagram account to stay updated.
