A WHA tipster sent us a photo of a new spot on 30th Avenue called Yes Chef Wine Bar & Farm To Table Food. The address is 44-10 30th Avenue—it’s been a sushi place for some time but I have fond memories when it was Marco Polo Gift House, full of all sorts of interesting things. The new tenants have done a minor interior renovation but that includes new wood floors, which should be nice.

Anyway, Yes Chef Wine Bar will offer Lunch, Brunch, Dinner, as well as wine, beer, and cider. The focus will be, as you can probably guess, “farm to table,” meaning they will work with local farms to get the freshest ingredients; the word “organic” has been used to describe their food, too.

The chef is Laszlo Beregszaszi, who comes with a lot of experience both domestically and abroad. He managed two restaurants in Greece on the Islands of Halkidiki and Thesanoliki. He is also Hungarian, graduating from the Culinary Institute of Hungary, and he stays close to his Hungarian roots with his work with the Societe Culinaire Philanthropique American Hungarian Club of New York. Yes Chef Wine Bar’s website boasts that they speak English, Spanish, and Hungarian at the restaurant, though I have to wonder if Chef Beregszaszi speaks a little Greek, too.

As far as the menu, lunch and brunch offer salads, various benedicts and other egg dishes, sandwiches, soups, a couple sides (but $9 avocado? wow), coffee drinks and brunch cocktails. What caught my eye in particular on this menu is the dessert section, which definitely nods to Central/European tastes: Coffee Cream Roll, Chocolate Mousse With Berries, Crepes (Jam or Hazelnut), and Chestnut Puree With Whipped Cream. For dinner you’ll find apps, salads, vegetarian and omnivorous entrees, and a similar drinks and dessert menu as lunch. They also do catering (here’s the menu), including box lunches, which are great for meetings and conference-type events. Their wine list on the website remains a mystery.

They don’t have much in the way of a social media presence, at least from what we’ve seen, but they to have a website. The paper is still up on the location but from what we can tell it really looks ready to go and we hope they will be open soon. Welcome to the neighborhood, Yes Chef Wine Bar & Farm To Table Food.
